Ellen DeGeneres announced her engagement to girlfriend Portia de Rossi during the taping of her talk show today. Their über-public announcement follows directly on the heels of the California Supreme Court ruling which strikes down state laws banning gay marriage as unconstitutional.Woo-hoo!!

Isn't that just the greatest news ever?! (the lifting of the ban, in particular) Speaking as a Californian, it was nice to see our Supreme Court take a reasonable stand on this one...
